Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
